On 16.1.2006, further to a request submitted to court on behalf of the Members of the Israel Diamond Exchange (creditors of the company) by Partner Hagai Ashlagi, Judge Varda Alsheich issued an order for the liquidation of Reuven Aliazrov & Sons Diamonds Ltd.
In her decision, Judge Alsheich pointed out that the company itself claimed to be on the verge of collapse, a temporary receiver for the company was already appointed and no motions against the request were submitted (as per the Official Receiver, who also consented to the request).
Previously, diamond mogul Lev Leviev, Aliazrov’s father-in-law, indicated that following an examination of the company’s diamonds held by a temporary receiver, he would not guaranty an arrangement of the company’s creditors.
